SGHS presents- "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"

Good Grief!! You don't want to miss San Gabriel High School's VIRTUAL musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown".
With charm, wit and heart, "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang. This revue of songs and vignettes, based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip, offers an uplifting theatrical experience.

Alliance Card Presentation
Attendees needed!
Garfield Medical has contacted the media about the MKHS Alliance cards presentation & they are attending. In addition to the CEO, there will be 10+ directors at the event. Alliance's publicists, Amanda & Kelly, are making posters that students can hold & show during the brief speech. If you are holding a sign, be sure to give it a Garfield employee after pictures are taken & speeches are done.

GetLit Blitz
2021
The GetLit Blitz Assembly will take place on Wednesday April 14, 2021 from 2-3:30.
The GetLit Players are a teen spoken word troupe that performs all over Los Angeles for schools and events like the LA Times Book Festival. They have performed at Dodgers Stadium and the White House. They have collaborated with the United Nations on various public service announcements. Most recently, they are the co-writers of a new film that opened last year's Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released nationally this spring. These are amazing kids speaking their truth and the atmosphere is electric. And this year we have a Keppel student in the troupe!!

Pacific Bridge Arts GRAMMY Camp
2021
The Pacific Bridge Arts Foundation (PBA), in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum®, is proud to announce a collaboration to increase opportunities to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander high school students to participate in their distinguished GRAMMY Camp program this summer.
Selected applicants will receive feedback and guidance from industry professionals on the creative content requirements of the GRAMMY Camp application. Selection by PBA does not guarantee admission to GRAMMY Camp and all applications will undergo a review process by the GRAMMY Museum. To offer further support, PBA will offer full tuition scholarships to these admitted students.
GRAMMY Camp is a 5-day nonresidential summer music education program for high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in music. Due to COVID-19, the program will be held virtually from July 20 – 24, 2021. The program provides valuable insight and opportunities for students to learn from music professionals. The PBA application deadline is Friday, March 19, 2021. PBA’s Scholarship Committee will review the applications and provide feedback on the creative content requirements of the GRAMMY Camp application during the week of March 22, 2021.
If your application is not selected by PBA, you are still encouraged to apply directly to GRAMMY Camp by their March 31st deadline. All applications must be turned in to the GRAMMY Museum by that time.

Keppel's Cards of Kindness
2021
The MKHS Alliance is excited to announce their upcoming card event, "Keppel's Cards of Kindness," an event where students can choose Mark Keppel/AUSD staff to whom they'd like a personalized card to be sent to! There are two ways in which you can participate; the first is to fill out the google form by choosing your card design, state the staff member you'd like your card to be sent to, the school they are from, and upload a pdf or picture of the handwritten message you'd like them to recieve, and Alliance will take care of the rest! The google form will stay open until Feburary 12th. The second option is to create your own home-made cards and deliver them to one of our designated drop-off locations.

On Thursday, January 28 at 8:30pm ET, the Educational Theatre Foundation will be streaming Theatre Alive! Theatre Alive! will be a live celebration of what we love about school theatre. This free, star-studded event is open to all and will help raise money for theatre programs in need.

FARMS Donation Drive
F.A.R.M.S is a student-led organization that advocates for the nourishment of all students. They are currently providing to AUSD families only.
F.A.R.M.S. is now hosting a donation drive from November 9th-18th to help provide food to struggling families. For any families willing to donate, please see the two fliers on the left for the list of suggested donation items and drop-off locations and dates for the drive.
For students and families wishing to apply for this free meal distribution, you fill out an online application by Wednesday, November 18. Items for the meals & fresh produce will be provided to each student who is selected through a raffle. The number of recipients is dependent upon the amount of donations that F.A.R.M.S. receive.

Clean The Air!
2020
This grant-funded program is multi-faceted and one of the central goals is to build a smoke/vape-free culture in our schools and to teach students refusal skills and self-advocacy.
We have developed a PSA contest and invite your school site to participate with at least one video entry! Students will be asked to create a short PSA video highlighting the devastating consequences of smoking/vaping. Students will also be asked to connect saying NO to smoke/vape to their school wide PBIS expectations. So, these videos are really a great opportunity to showcase PBIS at your site and to apply it to a serious public health threat for our community.
Student videos will be judged and students can win gift cards up to $25! Winning videos will also be showcased on social media and presented to the Board of Education.

SGV Got Skills!
2020
Got any skills that you want to show off? Well, Pacific Clinics-APFC is looking for students 6th-12th grade to practicipate in their virtual talent show. Video submissions (2 minutes long) must be submitted by Saturday, October 24, 2020. Pleasure ensure that the content is appropriate for young audiences.

Quaranteen Eats!
2020
Want to learn some simple and tasty recipes that the whole family can enjoy? Then buy the Quaranteen Eats official cookbook! The book is written and published by one of our very own Theatre Company Board members, Lauren Wang. The recipes are simple enough for teens to make but can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Learn something new with every dish. Each is paired with a story or a piece of wisdom collected from the veterans at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Community Living Center Recreation Therapy Department. All profits from this book are donated to help fund monthly birthday parties for the veterans during their road to recovery.

All Theatre Co. meetings for this year will be held online on Zoom. Links to these meetings will be posted on the Theatre Co. Meetings page.

All Drama and Technical Theatre classes have been modified with social distancing procedures. These classes will be done primarily through online schooling, with teachers contacting students through Zoom, Google Classroom, or Remind. For access to these sites, please contact your teacher. Several projects and assignments have been modified to better suit an online learning environment.
MK Goes To The UK
2015
The Fringe Festival, held in Edinburgh, Scotland, brings thousands of performers, directors, writers, and other countless artisans, together for three weeks to showcase their skills and talent on one international stage. The festival is connected with the American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF) that allows top high school performing arts students to have an opportunity to participate and perform shows in front of a diverse community.
In 2015, Mark Keppel Theatre Company was invited to participate in this world famous Festival. We took 27 people total including, actors, technicians, musicians and teachers! It was a truly AMAZING experience for all!!
